About
Est. 2026Built from nearly three decades in compliance technology
Hunter is built from nearly three decades in compliance technology. Al Macdonald began working in compliance in 1997, started Nominodata in 2006, and founded Hunter Data in 2026 to turn fragmented records into connected intelligence through data-as-a-service, search, enrichment, and relationship discovery.
The result is a Data-as-a-Service platform that combines a Search API, entity enrichment, and a Relationship Engine that connects records across datasets — the infrastructure that compliance, risk, and intelligence teams have always needed but had to assemble themselves.
What Hunter is built on
- AML / KYC
Working in compliance since 1997 — nearly three decades designing and operating anti-money laundering and know-your-customer systems across domestic and international jurisdictions. Hunter's data model reflects that operational reality.
- Search
Entity search with fuzzy matching, enrichment, and relationship queries — not keyword retrieval. The Search API is built for structured data operations, not document discovery.
- Relationship Engine
Cross-dataset entity resolution and relationship discovery with confidence scoring. Records are connected across sources — not just indexed within them.
- Infrastructure
Hunter is a data layer — designed to be called from applications, embedded in products, and operated at scale. 30+ years across networking, databases, web application design, and client/server environments.
Compliance technology since 1997. 19 patents. Two data companies.
Al Macdonald has spent his career at the intersection of compliance operations, data infrastructure, and search. He began working in compliance in 1997, founded Nominodata in 2006, and holds 19 patents in the compliance field.
Hunter Data, founded in 2026, is the next evolution of that work: a Data-as-a-Service platform with a Search API, entity enrichment, and a Relationship Engine that connects records across datasets — built for compliance, risk, investigations, and intelligence teams.
His experience spans networking, web application design, databases, imaging, and client/server environments — developed through applications development, customer support, technical sales, and IT management, domestically and internationally.
